What is this?
A free PDF download of a set of unofficial datacards for my favourite faction in Warhammer 40,000, the Tyranids.
What's included?
- Free PDF download - 66 cards
- Datasheets for every Tyranid unit in the 2023 codex (plus Forgeworld)
- Rules and stratagems for each detachment
- Weapon abilities quick reference
- Core stratagems quick reference
- Includes updated rules from the June 2024 Balance Dataslate
How do I print the cards?
For most people, the "8up" PDF is the one you want: the cards are arranged eight to a sheet of A4. Print it on your home printer, or send it to your local copyshop.
The cards are designed to match a standard poker-size playing card, 63mm × 88mm.
The download also includes a few other formats:
- PDF: single pages with 3mm bleed & crop marks
- PDF: single pages with 3mm bleed, no crop marks
- Affinity Publisher 2 design file
The Affinity Publisher source file uses the free fonts Barlow and Barlow Semi Condensed (available from Tribby or Google Fonts). The image texture used in the card header is by Scott Webb, and is freely available from Unsplash.
Who made this, and why?
My name's Will, I'm a web/graphic designer from the UK. You can follow my hobby progress on Instagram.
I made these cards in my spare time because I love playing Tyranids. I want to spend more time focusing on the game, and less time flipping through rulebooks. Official cards are available, but they're unnecessarily huge and they take up way too much space on the gaming table. My cards are a quarter of the size, and retain (basically) all the relevant information.
Will you make me a set of cards for [another faction]?
No, sorry. I would love to be able to, but this set alone took me a very long time to make. Feel free to make your own using my design.
Which is the best Tyranid detachment?
The correct answer is Unending Swarm (despite the recent nerf).
Be aware
These cards are not a replacement for the official codex, they're a quick reference guide. Because I had to re-word every rule in order to fit everything into such a small space, I recommend you keep your official codex and core rulebook handy if you want to look up the full rules.
